There are so many times that I feel like I’m just skirting around the edges of life, not as fully engaged as I want to be. I often spin my wheels and look like I’m doing a lot of work and getting somewhere, and yet, when I look around, it feels like not much progress is being made. Bummer!
I recently listened to a video by the inspirational speaker, Brendon Buchard. In it, he described people as usually fitting into three categories, caged, comfortable, or charged when it came as to how they engaged in life. Having fit into all three divisions at various times in my life, I agree with him that a change in attitude is necessary in order to move into the charged, engaged life that I imagine that most of us would like to be in. However, in my own experience, just saying that I wanted to change was usually not enough to make any real things happen, as my reptilian or unconscious brain would dig in her heels and for survival’s sake, say “No Way!”. Again, it’s those hidden blocks of resistance in our unconscious that are … well… unconscious, that most of us don’t have access to. My take is that it’s these blocks of resistance that need to be removed in order for real and lasting progress to be made.
That’s where holistic or alternative healing comes in. By learning of the existence of these hidden blocks of resistance is a start to begin your holistic healing. It’s not a character flaw on your part that keeps you from moving forward, and I think that the realization of that fact goes a long way towards keeping people from beating themselves up because they’re not living the lives that they want, There’s safety in staying on the outer edges, but there’s a burning hunger for many as they look through the windows of the lives of those who seem to be engaged.
If you go back through some of my blogs, you’ll find a lot of info on how to begin to move yourself in from the shadows on the edge of your life. I would especially recommend the one on Triune Brain theory, as the concept is critical for you to realize that there’s often a dysfunctional family inside of you that you didn’t even know existed. I also have a few slots right now for Breaking Free strategies where we can chat for about 45 min on the phone or on Skype about some ideas specific to your own issues. I can tell you about some programs that I offer that might be a good fit for you.
