How Long Does Healing Take?

Healing Light in the middle of the starsNancy Smeltzer, MFA

The simple answer is “as long as it takes”. However, for most people interested in a more definitive reply, the above response will be pretty vague. There are a variety of variables that come into play when answering that question. How much transformative work have you already done? Is this issue a relatively minor one or is it one of your core issues that you came to Earth to learn this lifetime? What tools do you have at your disposal and how willing are you to set aside time each day to work on your issue? I think that you can see how the length of time needed to clear or “heal” an issue might vary from individual to individual.

When I first started on this spiritual path eight years ago, I was apprenticed to a mentor and was spending about 8-10 hours per day learning what I could. The methods he was using and what I was capable of taking in were much more primitive then what I employ now, so there was a lot of “brute force” going on with the learning process at the time. It took me about 4 months using that approach before I could clearly “see” images behind my closed eyes as well as I can with them open. Before that, the images that I was picking up had about the clarity of a sonogram, or a hurricane radar map in the Caribbean. I had to learn to interpret that this little squiggle meant this and that little spot meant that before I got my “clear” vision. In contrast, becoming clairaudient and being able to “hear” messages happened in the space of about two weeks.

Another factor is that healing will only go as far as you are able on any given day. So while tremendous relief can be achieved in a two hour session, that may not be the bottom of the barrel on that issue. We’ve had clients who have experienced relief from an issue, and then have it “re-appear” a month later. Sometimes, people will pull back in a situation because letting go of it completely is too scary for their reptilian brain’s  sense of survival. However, most of the time, the re-appearance of the old issue, upon examination, is actually a deeper layer and has a different flavor to it.

Healing other issues before the one you want to release may be necessary before your goal can be achieved. We’ve had a client who was insistent about working on her childhood issues head on. While we were teaching her how to chip away at the parts that she was aware of, the bigger issue, in my opinion, is a past life that involves the Holocaust. Diving into that huge past event too quickly could frighten her present body  brain (reptilian brain) so much that she would not continue the work to the resolution that she seeks.

In the years that I’ve been working on myself and with my colleagues, we’ve developed much more efficient and gentle methods for healing. Ideally, if we were all in The Flow, The Zone, or the Creative Free Flow, healing would come about effortlessly, easily, and quickly. However, while many of us have perhaps experienced those times where everything clicked and even mundane chores were a breeze, staying in that optimal space for healing is often hard for many because of underlying beliefs. It’s by working with a guide, coach or mentor like us who can see past those blocks of resistance in our unconscious minds that optimal, permanent healing can take place.

What are some of the issues that have eluded you, and what factors are you aware of that are keeping you from moving forward? How  have you dealt with them in the past, and how effective were those methods for you?

About Nancy Smeltzer

I'm passionate about long distance spiritual and alternative healing, having had a successful practice now for over ten years. My clients work with me over the phone and on Skype from all over the USA and Canada, as well as Switzerland, Russia, and Australia. I specialize in helping people heal their negative repeating patterns of behavior and remove the stuck energy in their unconscious minds. By doing that, they can quit going round and round in circles,. repeating the same mistakes, and move forward to having the life of their dreams. Besides my holistic healing practice, I've also been professionally creating art quilts and other fiber arts for over 30 years. My specialty is contemporary beaded art quilts. On my web site, I bill myself as the "Self Proclaimed Button and Bead Queen of Maryland (USA)." My recent works have images that are based on what I see when I tap into a person's energy field and are called Meditation Gardens. These visionary art pieces are the perfect place for that person to play and meditate. In my spare time, I'm a rabid, avid "dirty nails" gardener, composing scenes with plants. Sometimes, I come inside so dirty that my clothes have to go straight into the washing machine; they're too dirty for the dirty clothes hamper! -The Official Google + site for Nancy Smeltzer
