Holding Vigil for Angels

Holding Vigil for AngelsNancy Smeltzer, MFA

14 November, 2012

While sitting here at my computer, writing for this blog, I received a call from a friend that his father had died today. I’ve been keeping vigil or helping him get ready to die since April of this year. Earlier, I had helped his mother cross over. I feel that “crossing over” is a really appropriate term for what I see as I watch someone let go of their hold on to their mortal bodies and transition into their Divine Beings. In reality, my take is that we’re already Divine Beings, it’s just that most of us forget that aspect of ourselves and are caught up in the throes of living a human existence the way that Western society dictates. If only you could see through my eyes how ready most people are to “go home”, you would be glad for them and celebrate their Great Crossing.

This particular father has been a dear the last few months, energetically showing up every day to show me he still had the plan we worked out for him to cross over. Most people I just stand in the Column of Light  and show them how it’s not a place to fear. I let them practice standing in it, and tell them that when they’re ready, all they have to do is to allow themselves to rise up. This man, however, early on took me under his wing, and comforted me, as my family was having some issues at the time. When his wife was alive, they would both show up, just to say hi and see how I was doing, even though her own health was failing. After she died a few months ago, he still showed up to show me his fianl plan, and that he knew that it was important.

I knew that he was getting closer to the end the last few weeks, as the image that I was “seeing” was less and less there. He still clutched his plan, to show me that he knew that it was important, but he was more and more confused. Some days, I would have to unfold the plan and show him what he had decided about flying up to heaven (he had been a pilot during WWII.) My friend and I had exchanged a few emails about his Dad’s declining condition, so I knew that it wouldn’t be much longer. When he called this afternoon, it was with a little sadness, but a great deal of relief that I could say that I was sorry and that I was also glad as his father was no longer in pain. We both agreed that his Dad was not looking back right now, as he was headed straight to heaven to be with his wife who had already gone ahead. Tonight, I’m going to be looking at the sky, as I know that they’re going to be dancing among the stars, united again.

One of my favorite books is  THE LITTLE SOUL AND THE SUN, by Neale Donald Walsch. You can read the book on-line, but you’re going to want to buy the book, as the illustrations are so beautiful. It’s one of those books that are written for children, but is really for all ages. and one of its major themes is that “God only sends us angels”. Both of my friend’s parents are truly angels, and always have been, but now they aren’t fettered by their human bodies.

I’d love to hear any thoughts that you have on the subject of helping the dying to cross over. For me, it’s one of the most rewarding things that I do in this work, and by now, I’ve helped several hundred people cross over.

About Nancy Smeltzer

I'm passionate about long distance spiritual and alternative healing, having had a successful practice now for over ten years. My clients work with me over the phone and on Skype from all over the USA and Canada, as well as Switzerland, Russia, and Australia. I specialize in helping people heal their negative repeating patterns of behavior and remove the stuck energy in their unconscious minds. By doing that, they can quit going round and round in circles,. repeating the same mistakes, and move forward to having the life of their dreams. Besides my holistic healing practice, I've also been professionally creating art quilts and other fiber arts for over 30 years. My specialty is contemporary beaded art quilts. On my web site, I bill myself as the "Self Proclaimed Button and Bead Queen of Maryland (USA)." My recent works have images that are based on what I see when I tap into a person's energy field and are called Meditation Gardens. These visionary art pieces are the perfect place for that person to play and meditate. In my spare time, I'm a rabid, avid "dirty nails" gardener, composing scenes with plants. Sometimes, I come inside so dirty that my clothes have to go straight into the washing machine; they're too dirty for the dirty clothes hamper! -The Official Google + site for Nancy Smeltzer
